Over the years, the JoeCustoms Awards (JCA) have been a place to see some of the best of the best in world of customizing.

In 2007, the award for best G.I Joe custom went to JFAK075 for his Stormshadow custom.

Here is what JFAK075 had to say about this award-winning custom.

Tell us about why you made this figure…what was your motivation?

This figure was based on the Devil's Due look, and what a great look it was. The figure was a custom casting by Good 2 Go. I was lucky enough to score one. The motivation was to bring out all the fabulous details when I painted it.

How did you make this figure?

In this case I didn't mod anything on the figure. Wish I could take credit. For the painting I started with a black base and kept dry brushing lighter shades till there was enough white. I'm very happy with the turn out.

How did you feel when you learned that you had won the JoeCustoms Award for this figure?

I was really pleased, because not only did I win for painting and posting, but I got to share the credit with my friends at G2G. It was a nice feeling knowing that it did all come together.

What would you would do differently, if anything, if you did this custom today

Nothing different really in the way of paint aps, but I did give him as a secret Santa gift. So I wouldn't mind having another or a 25th style version.

Tell us a little bit about the types of customs, if any, that you are working on these days. Are you still active in customizing Joes? Moved on?

I think customizing is a bit like any other art form - you evolve, but in some way always stay true to your roots: what got you into it. I find it relaxing and rewarding, and Joes will always be at the center of it for me.
